Why I started this directory
My background is in customer service, and the part I care about most is listening to what someone needs and pointing them to a business that can actually deliver it. Renovation is where that matters most. A homeowner planning a new kitchen or a basement suite is about to spend serious money on a stranger, and most lists online mix renovators with roofers, road builders and lead brokers who pass the job along.
This directory is my answer to that. It brings together Ontario companies that say, in their own words, that they renovate homes, sorted by the town they work in. Each page shows the kinds of jobs the company describes, its Google rating with the number of reviews behind it, and how to reach it. Paid positions carry a Sponsored label, and they never change a company's rating.
If you run one of these companies, you can take over your listing at no cost and keep it accurate. If you are a homeowner, I hope it gets you to a short list faster, and to a first call where you already know the right questions to ask.
How companies make the list
The starting point was Google's business data for Ontario companies listed as a general contractor or construction company. Profiles with no reviews, and profiles not updated in the past year, were left out, and repeat listings of one company were merged.
Each remaining company's own website, where one could be read, was checked for the home work it takes on. Companies that build roads, serve only commercial clients, practise a single trade, offer design without construction, or pass leads to other contractors were removed. What is left is a list of firms that say they renovate homes, plus a smaller group whose names point to renovation work.
At the latest update, 2026-10-24, the directory holds 6,077 home renovation companies across 281 Ontario towns and cities.
Owners can take over their listing at no charge. Each request is confirmed by hand, either through an email from the company's own domain or a call to the number on its Google profile. Paid positions carry a Sponsored label wherever they appear.
